Woodford Motorcycles a brief history
Milking Shed
What you may not know is that this area was all farm land, and that part of our workshop was the milk shed. The cows were walked down the road next to us (thats why it is known as Cowslip Road) and milked in our workshop.
Woodford Scooters
The shop was originally know as Woodford Scooters. having been opened in 1958. By John Witham and Dennis and Gladis Maybee
The shop quickly established itself, selling customised and heavily accessorised Vespa and Lambretta Scooters for the fashion conscious Mod.
Woodford Motorcycles
Yamaha were added around 1972 and Honda 1973. By the early eighties they had out grown the showroom,so 51 George Lane was purchased and the newly enlarged showroom was re-named Woodford Motorcycles.
New Faces
In 1995 after 37 years in the trade, Dennis, Gladis and John retired and the shop was purchased by the current owners. Alan Mitchell and Brett Randall
Alan was a former manager at Eddy Grimstead Motorcycles in Newbury Park
Brett had his own local workshop and is arguably one of the best and knowledgeable mechanics in the UK.
